The new Zip-Pak Slider Select is the company’s smallest and lightest-weight slider option. It’s engineered to offer costs savings from reduced material use and enhanced consumer usability through an ergonomic design.
The company unveiled the resealable closure at Pack Expo 2011, where it shared with Package Design editors some of the product benefits, including how the smaller format is more compatible with smaller hands. Elizabeth Sheaffer, marketing manager at Zip-Pak, noted that this would be a big benefit for deli and cheese products marketed to households with children. This zipper, she remarked, prevents shredded cheese from taking over her refrigeration by making it easy for everyone in the family to close packages after use. She also noted that the Zip-Pak Slider Select’s advanced leak resistance prevents liquids from cut deli meats and hot dogs from leaking into her refrigerated deli drawer.
The company says the new slider also performs well on package manufacturing lines. It can be applied to bags at speeds higher than 150 closures per minutes.
