Made from 45% renewable organic material, the Glass Polymer jar for Natura Chronos’ Passiflora skincare products has high clarity, dimensional stability, and a luxurious tactile feel. These characteristics, along with the sustainability benefits from its resin drying 25% faster than traditional co-polyesters and processing at 20% lower temperatures, helped the package and its resin maker Eastman take home the 2011 Luxe Pack in Green award.

The Glass Polymer jars for the Passiflora creams are offered in refill packs that snap into the Chronos bottomless pot. The package is designed to give an audible cue that the refill cup is firmly embedded. This, Eastman says, also helps reinforce the quality image of the Natura brand.

Another branding benefit of the refill system is that it reduces the amount of resin used and the packaging material required. This, along with the fact that the Glass Polymer used for the jar is recyclable, appeals to the cosmetic brand’s growing base of eco-conscious consumers.
base.

Life Cycle Assessments of The Glass Polymer, according to Eastman, have affirmed:
• All materials are manufactured without BPA and contain no halogens, sulfur, nitrogen, lead, mercury, cadmium, or hexavalent chromium.
• Most materials are compatible with existing PET post-consumer recycle streams
• The Glass Polymer weighs nearly 50% less than glass and reduces breakage waste by approximately 2%
• Reduce the amount of secondary packaging required to safely package glass products
