trucard Scoops Top Prize in Packaging Awards

Posted: May 2, 2014

Tullis Russell's trucard brand continued its successful development in the premium packaging market by winning the prestigious Carton of the Year award in the 2010 Procarton / ECMA awards announced in Vienna. The winning job, for Tommy Hilfiger’s 2010 summer fragrance, was produced on Tullis Russell’s uncoated SBS board trucard 0 matte and printed by CD Cartondruck in Germany.
Its three-dimensional, nautical design has complex contours and required delicate cutting—making very high demands on production and material. The entire background of the packaging resembles a canvas sail, produced using a linen emboss. The choice of a FSC certified uncoated board follows a growing interest amongst designers and packaging producers for subtle, more tactile surfaces and for board with strong environmental credentials.
This award builds on last year's success at the awards when trucard 1 gloss won the Volume Market category for its use in the packaging of Wrigleys' 5 chewing gum. trucard offers a wide range of FSC-certified, coated and uncoated SBS cartonboards available for the card, cover, and premium packaging markets. The range now also includes a selection of FSC certified recycled options (using 50% post-consumer waste) and a special HP Indigo certified version available in a variety of finishes and weights.
