Health & Beauty Focus: Packaging Materials
Iridescents (top) and Fiori (bottom)
Fiori by Corvon® and Iridescents by Corvon are two attractive Fibermark products designed for the cosmetic industry. The Fiori sample book features a pastel color palette that evokes freshness, elegance, and femininity for packaging. A specialty manufactured, coated material, Fiori can be customized with an array of visual effects and diverse textures for every brand.
"The Fiori by Corvon Collection newly presented in our sample book is a direct result of requests from cosmetics packaging designers," says S. Pemberton Hutchinson, vice president of FiberMark's packaging unit. "Fiori can create a strong impact that appeals to consumers in this industry, with softer, more feminine colors and textures."
Iridescents by Corvon is a line of packaging materials that combines lustrous reflectivity and unique looks that elevate brands. Iridescents is created through a proprietary process that produces a customizable material option for high-impact packaging.
Iridescents is available in 13 standard colors but can be custom-matched. Its coating, texture, and finish can incorporate an array of desired glossy or matte finishes.
FiberMark materials are durable, strong, scuff and stain resistant, and are available in various weights. The decorative materials can be customized with a wide range of print patterns, textures, and delicate embossing techniques, as well as secondary processes like die-cutting, post-embossing, screen-printing, and foil-stamping.
MeadWestvaco's Packaging Resources Group has introduced a new portfolio highlighting both the packaging and graphic benefits of its popular Crescendo® coated one-side paperboard. The portfolio, which includes both an envelope and folder, also contains a perforated full-color sample carton that can be easily removed and assembled to illustrate Crescendo's performance for packaging needs.
The carton shows a bright, floral image that is printed using four-color, spot UV, holographic and silver foil, with emboss and blind deboss techniques showcased, and inside are unprinted white sheets in various weights. The new portfolio uses the uncoated side of Crescendo on the exterior to show the substrate's excellent backside printability. Its bright fuchsia coated interior demonstrates how well Crescendo works with dazzling colors.
"This portfolio demonstrates how the color vibrancy and fidelity of Crescendo give a first-rate look to diverse jobs, from perfume cartons to annual reports," says Andrew H. Luke, director of marketing for MeadWestvaco. "The pieces highlight Crescendo's visual and tactile benefits."
Since its launch two years ago, this premium GZ/SBS paperboard has gained recognition for its exceptional whiteness, remarkable brightness, and luxurious smoothness. Crescendo produces vibrant, eye-catching colors and caters to high-end finishing processes. Because of its true-to-life graphic reproduction qualities, Crescendo is also perfect for a wide range of high-end print jobs. With its smooth, consistent surface, Crescendo exhibits superior on-press performance, running fast and clean on printing, converting, and filling equipment.
