The Tube Council 2003 Tubes of the Year Ben Miyares, vice president, Industry Relations PMMI and lead judge for the contest, presented the awards during the Tube Council's Annual Spring Conference in Orlando on May 2, 2003. The Ted Klein Tube Of The Year Award (overall winner) was presented to Victoria's Secret for its Rapture Golden Pearl Shower Cream. The Most Innovative Tube went to TIGI for its BedHead Dumb Blonde Reconstructor. The judges also presented awards for the best laminate, metal, and plastic tubes, as well as for the best tubes in the pharmaceutical, personal care, food, dentifrice, household/industrial, and international markets. New categories this year included best international tube manufactured outside North America and innovative component. Tubes were judged on the basis of general consumer sales appeal of the tube package, including graphics, closure, shape, texture, and ease of use. The most innovative tube was judged on decoration, graphics, finish, closure, innovation of the content, and overall technical merits. Founded in 1914, The Tube Council is a Packaging Association comprised of Squeeze Tube Manufacturers, Process Machinery Manufacturers, Component Suppliers, Publishers and Educators promoting Tubes as the package of choice. Industry professionals will be available during Pack Expo Las Vegas to discuss resources and member information. The Tube Council has been conducting the "Tubes Of The Year" contest for over 35 years and continues to encourage tube manufacturers and marketers to participate in this very important event.
