Welcome to the inaugural issue of Package Design:USA. Our objective in developing this magazine is to provide a powerful resource for packaging professionals to find the best tools, techniques and trends that will drive sales for their brands or customers.
Every day, consumer goods companies face a battlefield filled with a complex blend of challenges.
- Mass marketers now wield incredible power and can dictate requirements
that suit their needs, while subordinating the needs of the brands they
seek to sell.
- Historically, advertising campaigns could reach market segments with relatively inexpensive budgets. Today, they face a proliferation of media outlets that have diluted the impact of each spot by staggering amounts.
- Brands are in a constant battle with current competitors, new competitors and private label competitors whose packaging and quality are exemplary.
Against this backdrop, Package Design:USA has been launched to assist designers and packaging professionals in finding solutions. We will provide an editorial environment that informs and enlightens readers as they seek to find the graphic and structural creativity to win and keep customers.
Within the pages of this launch issue is a special section featuring some of todays most innovative package designs. These packages are winners of contests held by the many trade organizations representing this dynamic industry. The resulting Showcase of Packaging Innovations will also be on display at this years Pack Expo in Las Vegas.
We hope these featured packages, as well as the accompanying news and opinions that comprise our first issue, will be informative and inspirational to our readers.
