Showcase: 365: AIGA Annual Design Competition
Design is a process, a way of thinking. It is characterized
by the application of creative, thoughtful and responsive solutions
to communication problems. One of the most visible roles of the
American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) has been to celebrate
exemplary design in order to increase public awareness of the value
of design.
Each year, AIGA honors design in a broad range of categories, including
Package Design. This segment of the competition awards the years
best-designed and redesigned consumer packaging, labels, shopping
bags, single or boxed CD sets, videocassette/DVD/software packaging,
and gift or specialty products. Jurors for this competition evaluated
each works integrated design approach, including concept and
visual elements such as typography and illustration. Jurors also
looked for quality and innovation in the use of materials, and specially
considered how well an entry executes against its stated communication
objectives.
The selections displayed here were honored at 365: AIGA Annual Design
Exhibition 24, held November 19, 2003.
