Package Design Magazine is excited and fortunate to announce the start of its second
annual Package Design Makeover Challenge--a three-stage process that begins here,
with a series of profiles describing our participating design teams, and continues
over the course of the next two issues. This year's five inventive, proficient design
teams are Brand Engine, Goodwin, Gravity, Tin
Horse, and the collegiate design team
from the School of Packaging, Michigan State University.
In this uncommon celebration of package design creativity, each participant will
strive for "best overall package redesign" as assessed by you, our readers, who will
be invited to cast online votes with the help of embedded 3D images to aid the selection
process. The redesign team receiving the largest number of votes will be honored
with the contribution of a $5,000 student scholarship in its name to MSU's School
of Packaging.
Between now and the publication date of our July/August issue, this magazine's
editors will choose a consumer goods company, and a handful of their products will
be the subject of a complete design makeover by each of our participating teams.
The results of the makeovers will be showcased in the July/August issue, which will
be packed with before-and-after photos and written accounts of each contestant's
efforts.
Online voting begins with the publication of the July/August issue and ends on
the last day of Pack Expo Las Vegas, where the entries will also be voted on. Based
on the tally of your choices, we will proudly display the winners on the cover of
our November/ December issue, complete with detailed editorial coverage. We'd like
to welcome you all in this observance of design originality and excellence.
