Containers and Materials Pavilion At Pack Expo Las Vegas To Feature Solutions That Drive Shelf Appeal

It's no secret that competition in the retail environment is fierce. So how do consumer products companies elevate their brands to "must have" status and break the landscape of store shelves? By incorporating unique containers and materials that give packages an extra "pop" and grab consumer attention.

Package designers and marketers can get a firsthand look at the latest developments in paperboard, glass, metal, plastics, flexible packaging, and package producing equipment by visiting the Containers & Materials Pavilion at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2005, being held September 26-28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Sponsored by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI), Pack Expo will devote more than 60,000 square feet of exhibit space to technologies like labels, closures, rigid and semi-rigid containers, stand-up pouches, single-serve and on-the-go packaging, portion packs, and POP displays.

"The Containers & Materials Pavilion had a very successful debut at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2003," said Charles D. Yuska, president of PMMI. "This year's show will build on that success and truly serve this $125 billion market segment." Pack Expo Las Vegas will have 200+ exhibitors showcasing container and material innovations, many of whom will exhibit in the growing Containers & Materials Pavilion (see sidebar on page 59).

"Nearly 30% of Pack Expo attendees visit the show to locate innovative packaging materials, containers, and converting equipment," commented Jim Pittas, PMMI's director of expositions. "With nearly 25% of the show's total exhibitors showcasing advancements in this area, we're confident attendees will find what they're looking for."

Attendees can gain further design inspiration by visiting The Showcase of Packaging Innovations™, slated to feature winners of the ClearChoice, AmeriStar, and National Paperboard Awards, among a dozen other awards programs. These awards, sponsored by such prominent packaging associations as the Glass Packaging Institute (GPI), the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP), and the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC), are among the most prestigious in the industry.

Both the Containers & Materials Pavilion and The Showcase of Packaging Innovations can be accessed with the show's general admission badge. In addition to containers and materials, Pack Expo exhibitors will highlight innovations in packaging equipment, controls, software, and components. The show will also include a new Contract Packaging Pavilion, the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Pavilion, and the Packaging Security Pavilion. The co-location of the Food Processing Machinery EXPO (FPM EXPO) completes the lineup of technologies awaiting attendees — all inside the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Online pre-registration is currently available on www.packexpo.com. Registrations received on or before September 8, 2005 will cost $25.00 per person. Attendees registering at the Las Vegas Convention Center or online after September 8 will be pay $50.00. Visit www.packexpo.com or contact PMMI at 4350 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22203. Telephone: (703) 243-8555; Fax: (703) 243-8556; Email: expo@pmmi.
