The Third Annual Package Design Makeover Challenge
On your mark, get set, design! Package Design's third annual Makeover Challenge has begun. Entries have been submitted from our five design teams: Kendall Ross, Logosbrands, Object 9, TricorBraun, and William Fox Munroe. The product line for this year's re-examination is Fresh Body Market. This vegan-certified line of skin products is made of fresh fruit and vegetables, and its target audience is body-conscious and environmentally knowledgeable women who enjoy quality products. The products are inspired by innovative uses of real fruits and vegetables, and even have freshness expiration dating. The current Fresh Body Market packaging often uses convenient food containers, such as cups of yogurt, mustard bottles, gallons of milk, etc. The owners of the Fresh Body Market were open to new ideas that might take the brand to the next level by redefining their packaging. Each Makeover design team was challenged to redesign the packaging, making it more attractive and user-friendly, and each came up with unique concepts. Some firms went for a high-end luxurious presentation, while others stripped the brand down to its essence. Many package designs fit the functionality of the package to the product inside, and all the firms provided packages that are nice enough to leave out on the bathroom counter. So, we ask you, our informed and opinionated readers: What do you think? Which set of packages conveys the product line's message best? Which one team's entry would you deem "The Winner"? The deadline for votes is September 15 and the winner will be announced with the publication of our November/ December issue, where the winning team will be profiled in a cover story feature. Let the contest begin!
