Interpack Preview
Interpack 2008 Will Have 2,700 Exhibitors for Packaging Options
Three months before the start of interpack 2008 Processes and Packaging, 2,700 exhibitors from 58 countries had already reserved 1.8 million square feet of net exhibit space. The 2008 version of the interpack show, held only once every three years, will take place from April 24 - 30 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Because packaging sizes have been deregulated within the European Union, some manufacturers are refocusing on the power of packaging and investing in an attractive exterior. Common products such as household sugar are being offered in pretty dispensers of different sizes and practical portion sticks. For many categories, a new world of individual packaging shapes is opening up.
Today, new packages must meet the needs of the fillers and also conform to the latest trends in consumer behavior. In the food area in particular, product innovations have smoothed the way for new packaging solutions. The megatrends in nutrition are also significantly driving the variety of packaging options. Convenience, health, wellness and sustainability are the developments in society which are influencing packaging. Advances in food and packaging technologies have extended products ' lives and made them easier to handle.
For designers and marketing managers in particular, interpack 2008 offers exciting opportunities for achieving holistic consumer-oriented concepts. Interpack 's Packaging Innovation Parc will focus on fulfilling the packaging needs of aging populations and on new point of sale design strategies. To this end, every link in the value-creation chain will be addressed at interpack.
