Miloby Ideasystem Creates Reusable Box for Charlex

Each year, Miloby Ideasystem tries to create something original for the promotional items Charlex sends out annually. For this project, Miloby Ideasystem, based in New York City, enclosed a $150 organic sweatshirt "hoodie" in an innovative and creative recycled paperboard box.

Charlex sends over a thousand gift boxes each year to promote their digital production services. Miloby stepped up this past gift-giving season to create a box that had a second life as a sturdy, usable hanger. "We wanted to create something that would actualize the three R's in the minds of the people who received a box—reduce, reuse, recycle," explains Milana Kosovac, one of the principals at Miloby Ideasystem.

The message around the box is "Charlex encourages you to reduce, reuse, and recycle. The box (18" x 12" x 3-14") is produced by Cameo Container, a wholly owned subsidiary of Smurfit-Stone, with a single color direct print. The tricky part was designing the perforations so they would be durable and pop out easily.

Miloby designed the hanger hook to be a visible question mark when viewed for the first time. "We were relying on the wit of the idea to make it compelling," Kosovac explains. "Charlex wanted their packaging to reflect that they're really in tune with creativity and image-making."
