ADDIVANT RECEIVES FURTHER FDA APPROVALS FOR THE USE OF ITS NEXT GENERATION WESTON 705 LIQUID PHOSPHITE ANTIOXIDANT FOR FOOD CONTACT APPLICATIONS
Addivant, a global leader in polymer additive technologies, today announced that its WESTON 705 phosphite antioxidant for use in polymers, has received additional food contact clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This enhanced clearance increases the limits of WESTON 705 phosphite antioxidant that can be used in high density polyethylene (HDPE) from 1500ppm to 2000ppm and removes the limitation on contact with high alcohol food types.
Addivant produces its liquid phosphite antioxidants in multiple facilities worldwide ensuring security of supply for customers around the globe.
“This is another very important milestone in the commercialization of WESTON 705 phosphite antioxidant. The FDA’s additional endorsement of WESTON 705 will accelerate the replacement of the old Tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite (TNPP) and Tris(2,4-ditert-butylphenyl)phosphite (AO-168 type) antioxidants both of which are today facing increasing regulatory scrutiny,” said Peter Smith, President Commercial Operations. “Today, several of the world’s largest polymer producers are switching to WESTON 705 recognizing the benefit of its superior polymer performance, higher processing productivity and of course its clean toxicological profile.”
