The story of Skin Africa begins in a wonderful farm in Zambia, where the passion for cosmetics and for local, natural ingredients have encouraged Anja Kleemann-Wright, CEO at Skin Africa Cosmetics, and her business partner, Lianne Collett, to start creating skin care products based on Africa's natural ingredients.
Today the brand is an important player in the local cosmetic market with a widespread distribution, from vacation lodges, hotels and spas to stores in Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, major shopping centers and help shops. Throughout the years, the product offer has expanded, and today the African brand can offer an unlimited number of cosmetic products, including eye serums, face creams, body scrubs and hair care treatments. All the products are based on African oils and natural ingredients and are handmade following organic standards.
“The company is growing very fast, and it was time [to] commit [to] enlarging our horizons,” Anja Kleemann-Wright said. "That is the reason why we chose to commission Mktg industry, an Italian company specializing in a 260 degree, full service for the cosmetics and make-up markets [and] the development of a five year marketing and communications plan that starts from a total company re-branding to increasing our brand awareness and local sales. It will then continue with Skin Africa's launch on the European market."
Mktg Industry and Skin Africa decided to start by restyling the logo. "The big challenge was to restyle the logo without losing [our recognition] on [the] current local market," CEO of Mktg Industry, Stefano Focolari said. "The original logo was an African tree, so we have opted to keep is as it was, but by playing with lights, colors, reflections and shades, we have transformed it into something new: a suggestive and distinctive sign that recalls the symbol of the "Tree of Life," and we loved it right away — a "Tree of Life" to represent a brand that comes from where human life started: Africa."
Skin Africa and Mktg Industry's second step is to create a new website and an e-shopping platform: a tool that will help the company enter the global market.
“Our products are based on natural and organic African ingredients, and I am sure that the European market [will] appreciate them. We want our clients to experience Africa: the colors, the scents, the textures and the power of it nature.” Skin Africa and Mktg Industry will launch its products in Europe. The launch will officially take place in Bologna during the next Cosmoprof 2016.
The high quality of Skin Africa’s handmade, natural products, combined with Mktg Industry’s experience and skills in creating effective marketing and communication tools, will bring to the European market a range of innovative products destined to become a "must have" in the beauty routine of the most demanding consumers.
